Just because something is legal doesn’t mean there aren’t laws around it. Protect yourself by making sure you know the laws.

CANNABIS LAWS IN MANITOBA

You must be 19+ to purchase or consume cannabis (including edibles, extracts, drinks and topicals).

Youths under 19 years in possession of cannabis can be fined $672. A person supplying cannabis to a person under 19: $2,542 and up to 14 years in jail.

You can only buy from licensed retailers.

You could spend up to 5 years in jail for possession of illegal cannabis. If you’re the one selling illegally, you could be fined $2,542 – or face up to 14 years in jail

You can only carry up to 30 grams of non-medical cannabis.

Penalty for possession of over 30 grams of cannabis: a maximum fine of $672.

You can’t grow non-medical cannabis at home in Manitoba.

Those caught growing non-medical cannabis at home can be fined up to $2,542.

You can’t consume any form of non-medical cannabis in public in Manitoba.

Fines range from $100 to $15,000!

You can’t drive impaired in Manitoba.

You can be charged and face penalties under the Criminal Code (Canada), ranging from a fine of at least $1,000 (with mandatory jail sentences for subsequent offences), and be prohibited from driving for one to three years.

Impaired drivers also receive penalties under the Highway Traffic Act, including licencse suspensions, vehicle impoundment, and ignition interlock use requirements.

You must keep your cannabis out of reach in your vehicle.

When driving in Manitoba, you need to transport your weed in the trunk or other area where people in the car can’t get to it or you’ll get a ticket.

You can’t promote or encourage youth to purchase cannabis products.

You can check out the Cannabis Act for specifics, but offences come with a fine of up to $5 million, or 3 years in jail!

You can’t drive a boat with cannabis on board unless it’s stored in a closed compartment.

Improper transport of cannabis in a boat in Manitoba can mean a $237 fine.
